When it comes to being an entrepreneur, it’s important to slow down and celebrate the wins.
So often we can get caught up in the velocity of signing deal, shipping deliverables, and sprinting ahead on business development. But one of the highest value activities?
Celebrating the win.
I’m building Building the Talent Machine in public, a media company dedicated to up-skilling and uplifting the recruiting community. And we just onboarded a new client but before we get to shipping creative briefs, and rolling into production, we’re celebrating the win! Why?
Because any recruiter worth their pass through rate will tell you it’s a momentum game. And I leverage momentum through harnessing the energy that comes from celebrating the win.
You might think it’s counterproductive, and trust me there have been times where I as a recruiter use a signed offer letter to go out and get another one. That’s the best feeling in the world to know the candidate said yes.
But I’m also open to working in new ways, especially when it comes to avoiding burnout and building the machine of Building the Talent Machine. (Yeah that was a mouthful…)
So today, I’m choosing to celebrate the win before getting heads down and shipping value for our new client. Instead of fly-wheeling the momentum to my advantage, I’m harnessing it to pause, reflect and hype myself [and hopefully you] up before I get to work. Because it’s gonna be a busy month.
Already, Building the Talent Machine is booking up for October.

BTTM is telling real stories, with real people, and real partners. I’m so grateful for the clients we’ve onboarded in the first 90 days and excited to keep building. Because I keep being told what we’re doing is needed in the recruiting industry.
Life’s too short not to work on cool problems with interesting people. Recruiting allows us to both.
See you out there,
